Carnations

Carnations are commonly referred by their scientific name, "Dianthus". Carnations got the name Dianthus from two Greek Words - "dios", referring to the God Zeus, and "anthos", meaning flower. Carnations are hence called "The Flowers of God".
Carnations Flowers are available in a variety of colors except Blue. They are soft tender flowers and are considered as symbol of love and fascination. These flowers are Perennial flowers.

The Carnations single flowers of have 5 petals. While some of the Carnations may have double flowers with as many as 40 petals. Carnations flowers are in diameter of 6 and 8.5 cm. These are bisexual flowers and bloom simply or in a branched or forked cluster.



Carnation BicolorDifferent colors of the Carnation describe specific meanings. Carnation is considered as birth flower of January which depicts divine love and fascination. "Pink Carnations" is symbol of Mothers Love, "Light Red Carnations" signifies Admiration, that of "Dark Red" ones signifies deep love. "White Carnations" are proof of pure love and good luck, "Striped Carnations" shows regret and refusal; while "Purple Carnations" displays capriciousness.

Potpourri, perfumed sachets and cosmetic products are made out of Carnations.Even incense sticks are made of Carnation Flowers which increase energy and power in the rituals.

  • Spray Carnations (Mini Carnations) - with lots of smaller flowers.
  • Dwarf flowered Carnations - several small flowers on one stem.
