Various types of Orchids

Orchids are classified into three main categories depending on theirdifferent growth habits :-

• Epiphytic Orchids - These are seen clinging to tree branches to obtain light and air.
• Lithophytic Orchids - They can be seen covering the bases and forks of trees or filling crevices in rocks
• Terrestrial Orchids - They are seen under the ground, having a symbiotic relation with a special fungus, which in turn supports the orchid with the essential nutrients.
